| With 5 or so months left in the 2000s decade, it's time to look back and reflect on the Best (and worst) comic book runs, minis, single issues, and events of the decade.
Best Miniseries- JLA/Avengers. A pity, Busiek's been wasted at DC, so far.
Best Run- Right now it's a toss-up between Bendis on Ultimate Spider-Man and Geoff Johns on Teen Titans. Honorable mentions to Johns on Green Lantern and Whedon on Astonishing X-Men.
Best Single Issue- Ex Machina #40. This one's tough because no one really writes self contained singe issue stories. It's either that or Giant-Size Astonishing X-Men.
Best Event- Sinestro Corps War was really cool, relatively self contained, and a reasonable length. I don't even mind that Kyle Rayner jobbed in the beginning and spent the majority of the rest possessed by Parallax. That or Final Crisis and an Honorable Mention to Civil War (the standard for quality of events this decade is low.)
Worst Miniseries- Ultimates 3, pretty much bar none. After that maybe those Secret Invasion tie-ins that served no purpose.
Worst Run- Jeph Loeb on Hulk. I'm seeing a theme.
Worst Single Issue- Any issue of Hulk or Ultimates 3? Single issues are tough to recall for previously stated reasons.
Worst Event- Amazons Attack. Followed closely by House of M.

| Best Miniseries- Villains United, I really loved it and it's what got me back into going to the comics store regularly.
Best Run- Geoff Johns on Justice Society of America. It had everythign I wanted in a series, comedy, action, love and death. Plus the additions of Magog and KC Supes to the mainstream DCU was amazing.
Best Single Issue- X-Factor #39, it broke my heart in all the right places. I really felt bad for Jamie.
Best Event- Civil War, it may have been strewn all over Lee's creation but it was beautiful. And the big ending with Cap's death was definitely enough to shock me.
Worst Miniseries- Ultimate Power, I don't know what it was about this series, but it pissed me off so badly at every turn that I stopped after issue 2. (I think it was Land...)
Worst Run- I can't really come up with anything except Jeph Loeb on Hulk.
Worst Single Issue- Ultimate Hulk Annual #1, he fucks Power Princess after they brawl.
Worst Event- Secret Invasion, I absolutely abhorred it.

| Is it really that time again to talk about the best and worst comic book stuff of the decade? I mean, five months really is a fair amount of time. Figure December, or even November would be a better time to do this. We've got a little less than half a year left in the decade so this all seems a little premature. | |

It says "so far" for a reason. I figure with 95% of the decade complete I'm ready to start looking back. You're welcome to wait, though. I really started it this early to give MJ enough time to make a list. - CaptainJoel wrote:

This actually makes me think DC really stepped their game up around this time. A little earlier they did Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day which led into the New Teen Titans which really got me into DC (beyond just the Superman/Batman stuff.)

| Best Miniseries- Does this include what if's? If so, definitely All Star Superman
Best Run- Invincible, no other series has really kept me anxious for the next issue like this series, outside of big events.
Best Single Issue- Probably All Star Superman #6 or #12....I hate trying to pick a single issue. Honorable mention is Nightwing #149, just great seeing Nightwing take on the rogues.(off the top of my head.)
Best Event- Sinestro Corps was the best event of this decade. Final Crisis is second.
I'm not doing a worst section.

| Best Miniseries- Mark Millar The Ultimates and Wolverine Enemy of the State Such an amazing perceptive Millar has for characters.
Best Run- Brian K Vaughn Y: The Last Man Epic.
Best Single Issue- Y: The Last Man #1 Beginning of the end.
Best Event- Mark Millar Civil War Loved every minute except the last.
Worst Miniseries- Jeph Loeb Wolverine Evolution Finally, the final showdown between Sabretooth and Wolverine, aw fuck it's written by Loeb.
Worst Run- J. Michael Straczynski and Joe Quesada Spider Man One More Day What the hell happened here. Uproar of fans that's what.
Worst Single Issue- Jeph Loeb Ultimates 3 #1 Read it and threw it away, I lost my Ultimates that day.
Worst Event- Secret Invasion So poorly executed. _________________

Good shit on All Star Superman, though. That's one I didn't consider. Still would've picked JLA/Avengers, but it's up there. Fine... A lot of it will be recent...and Loeb, or millar. Worst miniseries- Defenders vs Offenders. Worst run-Hulk Worst single issue- It's a tie between Rulk beating thor, and Rulk beating the defenders and offenders. Worst event- I'd say Civil War...I don't even consider secret invasion an event. Also I have some honorable mentions for great/best run and event Run- Immortal Iron Fist...this book is great and made me interested in the character. Event- Reign in Hell....amazing book.

I'm gonna post more later. It was actually the very first issue I thought of, but I figured I'd save it for mini. Plus Ex Machina #40 was too damn goos. Though I think the Crises would fall under the category of "Events."

| [quote="True Believer"] Best Miniseries- 7 Soldiers of Victory It was going to be Marvel Knights: Sentry, but LS reminded me of this.
Best Run- Brubaker. Captain America You can shut your mouths. I didn't like steve dying, nor do I think Bucky is good as cap, but it's the most interesting story out there. Honorable mention to Fraction on Invincible Iron Man even if it is just to capitalize on the movie.
Best Single Issue- ?
Best Event- Annihilation the first one. Conquest was OK, and War of Kings is looking to be more like SI than I hoped. Annihilation got me excited to read comics.
Best art- I need to think
Worst Miniseries- SI young avengers/runaways
Worst Run- Bendis. New Avengers Among countless other things, he fucked up Sentry.
Worst Single Issue- Any one with Obama
Worst Event- Secret Invasion the promo's and Dark reign were, by far, the best parts about this.
Worst Art: Whoever is on Fantastic Four right now. I've never not been attracted to Sue Storm. His faces Blow.

Best New Character
Best New Title Hell YES! Best New Character: Jaime Reyes, the new Blue Beetle. I really loved his opening in Infinte Crisis and his series was the freaking bomb.Best New Title: Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E., this is the series that got me into Warren Ellis, I loved every minute of it. Every page was just crawling with perfection. And RORKANNU'S LOVE OF SUICIDE GIRLS! It's something I go back and re-read often. Best Comic Movie: Iron Man, it went all the way with star power and didn't cut back on the comic-inspired script. It is the new Spider-man, to me. Favorite Resurrection: Thor, he came back from the dead and totally cracked the post-Civil War Marvel U wide open and put Asgard smack dab in the middle of America. Favorite book that should have been done on time: Old Man Logan. Why is it still not done?

I agree, it seems like they finally realized around this point they could put their good writers on characters that were less than perfect. Gail Simone really hit it out of the park with the series, and the different things that shot out of IC turned out to be great. The Brave New World thing with all of the new series launches was wonderful. Especially the Shazam, Martian Manhunter and Creeper getting their own books.
