I lent The Big Fat Kill to my cousin... lets just say the already black and white art had some more white stuck between the pages. *why don't we have an emoticon for vomiting?*

I burned it.

What mad the TDKR cool was that it such a departure from what batman was before that. You have to know the historical context to understand why it was a big deal. People say the same things abut the Beatles, they don't get why anyone would give them the time of day, their early music is so simple. But compared to what we heard before them, they were light years ahead of their time. Watchmen turned conventional comics on their ear - that why it was so important and so good. People don't realize that without these break through stories, a lot of the stuff you saw afterwards would never have come to pass.

Oh I realize how big a deal it was for the industry. Just wasn't that impressed with the comic myself.

As for The Beatles, you're right you have to take them in context. At the time they became popular pop was simple, they were just playing/writing what ppl liked. & simple doesn't = bad.

I've mentioned this before but...My wife has bought me Batman: The Long Halloween twice and I still haven't read all of it. I usually fall asleep when I try to read it and lose my place, then I just never finish it. I've read (what would be) the first issue at least 4 times and I'm sure I've made it passed half way at least twice. But I never finish for some reason, and it is a good book.
