(thought the discussion for this belonged here, Shazzy. hope you don't mind)
Despite the fact that I'm really a traditionalist when it comes to iconic comic book characters like SM, I like the look of the new costume. I like the fact that it's brighter in color than Tobey's costume in the last three films. I'm even ok with the web shooters being on the outside.
That said, I do have an issue with the thickness of the costume as well as what looks like shoe soles at the bottom of his feet in the few shots we have so far. My problem is mainly with the fact that Spidey's ability to climb walls and cling to surfaces works with direct contact between him and a surface. One of the explanations for his powers are the existence of microscopic hairs that can rise out of his skin and cling to any surface via some sort of microscopic/molecular interaction with a given surface. We've always seen PP remove his shoes when he needs to climb a wall and to put on his costume. Now in the comics, the traditional costume is obviously some sort of a thin fabric and it's very possible that the tiny hairs on Spidey's hands, feet, etc. protrude through the suit. The new film's costume, however, show a much thicker suit with what look like nike air soles at the feet. The pics in the vid show small vents at the finger tips to possibly allow for some sort of direct contact to surfaces but why would he want to cling only by his finger tips? I realize 99% of the people who will watch the new film won't even think about this or care, but when you spend as much money as Sony is for this film, you would expect the writers and costume designers would have this issue all figured out.
I really like the new title of the film too!
I think the shoes are just on the stunt suit like they said in the video.
I'm hoping the shoes are just on the stunt suit but we'll have to see. I like this suit a lot. I think these guys are correct about the Ben Reilly look. Compared to the other costume, I like this one more. However, I do wish the eyes where white or silver and I like the Spider symbols on the old one more, especially the one on the back.
I think he needs more pouches.
NO DOUBT!!!

you've gotta watch several times to let the awesomeness really sink in
Is anyone reading Ult. Spidey? Why are they killing Peter & is this story actually any good?
first..who fuckin knows like its really gonna last which is b.s. cuz until Loeb ruined it deaths in Ultimate Marvel actual stuck and meant somethin but he went overboard with Ultimatum so that shit's probably right out the fuckin window
second...despite my disagreeing with this idea yeah it is pretty good actually lol but im reserving final judgement until after the story is over and we see how they handle the aftermath THATS when well know if this was a good move or not

He doesn't really die, the series is just getting a relaunch with him in a new costume. I'm pretty sure they're just doing it to have a jumping on point for the people interested in Spidey when the new movie comes out.
Noluv, deaths in Ultimate Marvel U never meant much. They were brought back to life as quickly as the other universes.
And Dan, the story is fantastic.

From what I've read he really is dying. They've said it's a new person in the new costume...

Wait-a-minute! Won't this be the third Ultimate Spidey then? They just renumbered the series sometime after Larsen's departure. Not that I really give a F*CK cause I don't read any Ultimate Univ titles. I just hope Marvel and Bendis don't somehow try to tie in the reg Marvel Univ with the Ultim Universe!!!
And, yeah, Lynch is right...new readers today could just as easily pick up a title from its current number and start reading. Given the amount of trades in print today, the internet, and numerous other resources, consumers have a much better opportunity to catch up with a title or character now than they ever did before. What bothers me even more is the amount of titles each character that's got a movie coming out now has. Just look at Thor, Iron Man, Cap, and Deadpool!
Like Joel, I'm also not surprised by characters not staying dead long in any universe. It's always just a matter of time with certain characters. I'm just curious as hell to see how they bring back Johnny Storm! This week's FF was amazing!!!!

I believe you mean Bagley.
Also, I don't think they're starting with a new #1, just a new costume & new character... All new, All different??? Unlikely...

Really really long. Bendis/Bagley hold the record at Marvel for longest continuous run.
& Bagley is back on Ult. Spidey now...

must have been geez... i remember seeing him in Ultimate #1 way way waaaaay back when damn it had to be at least 2000 2001 or around then so his run was like...close to a decade? wtf i also thought his run on Amazing was a bit too long and his work got sloppy at times never really been thrilled with his rendition of Spidey anyway...its ok i guess meh
why couldnt Todd McFarlane or Steve Skoce do 1,000,000,000 issues?

Because McFarlane was a dick to work with and no one at Marvel liked him?

This is going to suck. What are they going to do have the Jessica Drew clone tape her boobs down and cut her hair and pretend to be Peter or somthing lame like that? Marvel Spy if you use that idea I will hunt you down and kill you.

Maybe they'll have Rick Jones do it? I have no idea, maybe a real Ben Reilly will pop up.
