Yeah, but that's nothing compared to his work on Kingdom Come or even his JSA covers. Most of his Marvel work is uncharacteristically dark. It lacks the appropriate grittiness nor does it have that iconic Alex Ross feel to it. Even his X-Men cover, as awesome as it was, doesn't feel quite "right" with Alex doing it. Is anyone else feeling me on this? I actually think it may be some of his worst stuff. Which, by Alex Ross standards, is still heads and tails above most of his contemporaries.

Well the Marvel stuff is a bit uninspired looking compared to the work in Kingdom Come for example. But I just can't help remembering how awestruck I was when I first read Marvels!

| I think it is a matter of preference despite his like major project starting out being a marvel it seems he has always prefered DC characters more
I met him once at a signing, and all he had to sell was DC paintings, I saw no Marvel....that I can remember

No one has seen the upcoming cover for Uncanny X-Men #500?
That this is EPIC
Not to mention I loved the Spidey one. Not the cover, but it had like the rogues gallery with like some other characters like MJ and Punisher.

What Spidey pic are you talking about? I'd love to see it. He's doing a 50/50 variant with Land. And I already mentioned it.

still searchin for that spidey Hmm . . . This actually is quite awesome. I like the classic looks. Except his Wolverine. Alex Ross shouldn't have to draw Wolverine . . . Ever.

Except his Wolverine. Alex Ross shouldn't have to draw Wolverine . . . Ever. This reminds me of when I was little and first saw X-men: Pride of the X-men. Man was I disappointed when it turned out to be only one episode.

I'm pretty sure this is Alex Ross painting over Romita art. At the very least that MJ is.

| Ok with all this positive'ness' that is being posted about him, I feel compelled to post something that is a bit negatory, despite how much I disagree with this, wait Captain shouldn't have guns anyway......but still. | |

forgot about Romitay That's very interesting looking. The X-Men issue above is really good. I could never understand what kind of claws wolverine has since artists draw them one of two ways 1) Like blades, i.e. flat and sharp or 2) round like horns or spikes. Quesada likes to add hooks to the ends of his spike like claws. I've just always preferred the blade version.

But Bucky has always used a gun. Anyways I still like New Cap... his uniform, and despite maybe some excessive shinyness... I still like this Alex Ross image.

The only thing that ruins this image is that it is way too shiny. Other than that this is an amazing design and I like cap with a gun.

The only thing that ruins this image is that it is way too shiny. Other than that this is an amazing design and I like cap with a gun. I think it blows. The shininess is lame, but even without it I don't much enjoy it. He kept the head wings which, when modernizing a Captain America costume, should be the first thing to go. He basically just used the design he made for the Spider-Man movie and put a flag on it. The black doesn't fit and the gloves strike me as kind of fruity and ladylike. Like Black Widow should be wearing them. The gun's alright, but it does pussify him to a certain extent. Steve didn't need no stinking gun.
